Charles Sliger, Sr.

Charles Winfred Sliger, Sr. was born March 19,1940, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Curtis Noble Sliger and Eunice “Mimi” Victoria (Ravenscraft) Sliger and passed away August 31, 2023, at his home in Ava, Missouri. He was 83 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age.

He married the love of his life, Mary Bernell Smelser, on July 15, 1962, in Waldo, Columbia County, Arkansas. There they raised eleven children.

Charles graduated from Grand Falls, Texas, in 1958. Charles served as member of the United States Army, retiring in 1993 as a US Army MSgt Charles W. Sliger Sr.

In 1985, Mary and Charles started Mary’s Care in Springfield, Missouri, a medical courier company. At one point, they serviced 23 hospitals in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas before retiring to their mountain in Ava, Missouri, and raising Charlie and Dakota.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bernell Sliger and one son, Cecil Martin, brothers, Carl Sliger (Evelyn) of the state of Texas, brother, Herbert Sliger (Margaret) of the state of Oklahoma, twins, Willbourn Roy and Willard Troy, and CW Sliger, sisters, Margaret Robinson (David) of the state of Texas, Lena Sliger of the state of California and Wynona Briggs (Junior) of Abilene, Texas.

Charles is survived by his children, Clifton Sliger of Springfield, Missouri, Christopher Sliger (Deanna) of Springfield, Missouri, Marion Sliger Belanger (Joel) of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Marsha (Sliger) Stowe (Allen) of Goodson, Missouri ,Mary Branam (Ronnie) of Piqua, Ohio, USAF TSgt (Ret) Cheryl Migas of Fort Worth, Texas, Charles Sliger Jr. (Jennifer) of Springfield, Missouri, US Marine GySgt (Ret) Curtis Sliger of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Michael Sliger of Ava, Missouri, Dakota and Charlie Sliger of the home, 11 children, at least 44 grandchildren and quite a few great grandchildren, one sister, Scarlotte Webb of Waldo, Arkansas.
