Wilma Faye Patterson was born to James “Lode” Counts and Margaret Emaline “Emmie” Nash-Counts on October 2, 1932, in Prairie Hollow, Missouri (Eminence). She passed away on September 3, 2023, one month short of her 91st birthday, surrounded by family at her home in Mountain View, Missouri. Wilma was married to Earl Roude “ER” Patterson on December 3, 1949, in Salem, Arkansas, and to this union, four children were born.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, ER Patterson; son, Pat Patterson; son-in-law, Donnie Brake; granddaughter, Jennifer Frogley; two sisters, Pauline Thomas and Thelma Dixon; four brothers, Raymond, Paul, Frank, and Elvie Counts; nine sisters-in-law; and seven brothers-in-law.
Wilma is survived by one daughter, Elaine Brake of Willow Springs, MO; one daughter-in-law, Wilma Chandler of Barnett Crossroad, AL; two sons, Crome Patterson of Mountain View, MO, and David (Dawn) Patterson of Ozark, MO; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A lifelong Christian, Wilma loved to attend church and singings all over the country. Family was her most cherished possession, and she loved to hear stories of what the grandkids and greats were up to. Her home is filled with photos of loved ones, and she loved to hear all the stories.
As an owner of a laundry business in Mountain View, she knew the community well, and she could tell you most people’s family history from Mountain View to east of Eminence and farther.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor Rodney Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri.
