Ava, MO. – On Saturday, September 16th, Ava Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for trying to meet an underage girl for sex.
Law enforcement had received information that suspect William Berrett Travis, age 32, had been communicating with, what he believed, was a 15-year-old female. Travis then attempted to meet the child. Instead, he met law enforcement personnel.
William Travis was taken into custody for two counts of 2nd-degree attempted statutory rape, two counts of 2nd-degree attempted statutory sodomy and one count of misdemeanor sexual misconduct in the first degree.
The suspect is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
