Mountain View man arrested for allegedly punching, shoving restaurant employee

West Plains, MO. – A Mountain View man has been arrested after being accused of punching a restaurant employee earlier this year.

On June 7th, law enforcement responded to Los Amigos in Mountain View and spoke to an employee who stated a man had hit him. The victim told authorities the man had walked up and hit him for no apparent reason, throwing him back into a window, and breaking it. The victim gave a description of the man and stated he had left on foot.

Law enforcement located Cody Tyler Gage Smotherman, who fit the description given by the victim. The victim went on to identify Smotherman as the man that hit him earlier that day.

A warrant for Smotherman’s arrest was issued on August 31, 2023, and the suspect was taken into custody on September 12th.

He is currently being held in the Howell County Jail on a charge of 3rd-degree assault and a $5,000 cash or corporate surety bond.
