A Poplar Bluff man was fatally injured in a Carter County crash on Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred on County Road 347, one mile north of Route A on the northeast side of Ellsinore at 2:15 p.m.
A southbound Ford Ranger driven by Joseph Carter, age 49, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Carter was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Carter County Coroner at 3:15 p.m. There was minor damage done to the vehicle.

This crash marks the 28th roadway fatality reported by MSHP Troop G in 2023.
