Changes to Online Court Records Means Increased Public Access

A recent change to the way online court records are handled in the state of Missouri has made information about cases within the state more avaialble to the public.

This change applies to Missouri Case.Net, which is a website that has been available to the public for years and has been used to monitor the Missouri court system and the cases therein.

This will not apply to court records of sealed cases, where all details are kept from the public to protect an active investigation or a particular sensitive case.

It is expected that these changes will likely now create more work for attorneys and other filers of court documents in order to account for redacting of victims names, but the overall disposition appears to be positive about these changes.

The changes to Missouri Case.Net now more closely mirror the online resource used in Arkansas for similar information: Court Connect.
