Frances Flynn

Frances Lurene Grooms Flynn, age 81, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas passed away November 2, 2023 at home with family.

Frances was born to the late Leo Eli Grooms and Dorothy Frankie Mondina Lewallen on November 9, 1941 in Thayer, MO.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Vale Flynn, of Mammoth Spring, and sister, Lorene Ella Grooms, of Thayer, MO; two daughters Sonya Fawn Flynn (John Pike) of Thayer, MO and Sherri Rea Flynn of Mountain View, CA; six grandchildren, Abigail, Noah, Jonah, Benjamin, Joshua, Samuel Williams all of California.

Frances was preceded in death by parents, sister Barbara Fat’ie Grooms, and infant brother Billy Ray Grooms.

Frances graduated from Thayer High School in 1959. As a young adult she worked in the bank and grocery store where she and Howard first met. They married in 1964. She spent a couple of years as a military wife based in Kentucky. Once discharged, they spent most of the following decades running the local grocery store, family farm, raising cattle, canning bountiful gardens, and tending to her family, friends, and neighbors. She was always checking in on and helping others whenever she could. Her skills ranged from expert seamstress to birthing calves with lots of great cooking, homemaking and about everything else in between. She was fiercely devoted to her family and grandkids.

Funeral services will Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Clary Funeral Home, with burial following in the Fryatt Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, AR. Visitation will be 5pm-7pm Sunday, November, 5, 2023 and 12pm-1pm Monday, November 6, 2023.
