Jerry L. Smith

Jerry Lynn Smith, 61, of Cabool, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO surrounded by his family, at 8:00 PM on November 6, 2023.

Son of Maxine Smith-Aldridge, he was born in Houston, MO on March 17, 1962. After Jerry finished school at Cabool High, he relocated to St. Louis where he worked at Larry’s Egg and Poultry Plant with several family members. When he relocated back home to Cabool he started his 17 year career traveling weekly as a Foreman with Arkansas Electric Corporation, which he loved.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Smith-Aldridge of Cabool; an infant brother, Clarence Skaggs; brother, Bobby Skaggs of Denton, Texas; uncles, Charles (Chuck) Smith of Cabool, Harold Smith of Cabool, Billy Smith and Alfred Smith; aunts,  Anna Mae, Edith and Jean; niece, Amy Jo of St. Louis and Harley Collins of West Plains.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie Smith; children from a previous marriage, daughter, Crystal (Nathaniel) Ishmael of Boonville, son, Bradley Smith of Cabool; grandchildren, Stella, Josie, Jax, Kai and Liam; brother, Dwayne (Yvonne) Smith of St. Louis; sister, Linda Allen of Mountain Grove; his only living uncle, Herbert Smith of Cabool; aunt Judy (wife of Charles Smith) and their two daughters, Keli (Ryan) York of West Plains and Kim Smith of Cabool; two brothers-in law and two sisters-in-law, cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry had a soft spot for his fur babies, Buddy and Mia, treating them like valuable family members.

If anyone knew Jerry, they knew he never met a stranger. He had a love for bowling, hunting, fishing, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, Nascar, his animals on the small farm he kept, and his greenhouse . He will always be remembered by being fiercely loyal, a good man, a wonderful friend and for loving his family the way he did. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Union Chapel Cemetery c/o the funeral home

Visitation will be  Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home in Cabool
