According to the probable cause statement, Ozark County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to investigate a domestic assault at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday. While en route, a deputy met the alleged victim on State Highway 181, where the victim spoke with law enforcement. She stated that her boyfriend of roughly two years, Sprague, had gotten angry with her for not wanting to go to Springfield with him. She said she then got into her vehicle and locked the doors while Sprague kicked both doors, leaving shoe marks on the car, and ripped the driver-side windshield wiper off. The woman then accuses Sprague of getting into his truck and reversing the truck, slamming into her car. She told authorities she fired a .22 pistol three times at the vehicle out of fear for her life. The woman said Sprague then peeled out of the driveway and headed east on Highway 181.

Sprague had also called the Sheriff’s office, stating he had been shot at and was located near his residence.

Authorities concluded the victim had the story that most aligned with the evidence and placed Sprague under arrest.
