Ash Flat, AR. – A fatality was confirmed in a crash that occurred on Monday, November 20th.
This fatal crash report comes from the Arkansas State Police, and the fatality involved was a 93-year-old Cherokee Village resident, identified as Phyllis Thompson.
According to the report, Thompson was the passenger in a Lincoln MKC driven by Mark Thompson, 67 of Cherokee Village. Mark had failed to yield while attempting to make a left turn off of Highway 167 and onto Highway 412, north of Ash Flat, at roughly 3:52 p.m. The passenger side of the vehicle was then struck by a Dodge Ram driven by Matthew Melton, 30 of Evening Shade.
Both Mark Thompson and Matthew Melton were injured as a result of the accident, but Phyllis Thompson lost her life in the event.
Road conditions are listed as wet and rainy. The investigating officer was Lieutenant Jeremy Stevens of the Ash Flat Police Department.
