Larry Ray Akins

The loved ones of Larry Ray Akins, of West Plains, Missouri are saddened to announce his passing on November 3, 2023. He passed away peacefully at the age of 67 with loved ones by his side.

Larry was born on July 20, 1955 at Scott’s Air Force Base in Illinois and later served as an E-6 Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He later settled in his hometown of Biloxi, Mississippi, where he studied Criminal Justice, worked as a police officer and also surveillance at Treasure Bay Casino.

Larry was an avid sports lover and known as the STL Cardinal’s man. He was also a fan of
Notre Dame and the Kansas City Chiefs. Larry was a kind and simple man, always happy with what he had. He especially enjoyed Coca-Cola, hot pockets, hot dogs, fried potatoes,
muffalettas, brussel sprouts, fries and onion rings. He looked forward to seeing his dear friend Kya and her mother Kellie every day; he also stayed in close contact with his loved ones, regardless of the distance between them. These are the things that brought him the most joy in life.

Mr.Akins is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Billie Jo Akins; grandparents, Lavoy and Esther Akins; Don and Virgine Kaysinger; sisters, Debbie Rice, Diana Furr and Pamela Akins; uncles, Frank Akins, Willo Akins and Bill Morgan; aunts, Deallie Morgan, Juanita McCab, Barbara Willis, Vera Griffin; niece, Jennifer Courtney and nephew Robert Latolito (Bobby).

Larry’s survivors include his children; Diana Holland, Nicole Long, Heather Buckman, Danny
Alimani , Jason Alimani, 10 grandchildren; sister, Cynthia Ferguson and husband Mike; aunts,
Bonnie and husband Steve Donovan; Patti and Roger Wright; Fran and Denny Harrison and many nieces and nephews and his special friends Kellie and Kya, whom he considered family
