A grand jury indicted Barton in August over the incident that, according to the Probable Cause statement, happened in November 2022.

The PC statement tells that an inmate asked Barton multiple times to bring contraband into the prison for him and, around Nov. 21st, she was given two soda cans by an unknown woman asking her to deliver them to the inmate. The statement says Barton took the two cans, which were replicas containing methamphetamine, to the inmate on the night of Nov. 25th, 2022.

A sergeant seized the cans from the inmate. With the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol – Troop G, it was determined the two fake cans contained 111.04 grams of meth.

A warrant for Barton’s arrest was issued on Aug. 29, 2023, and she was taken into custody in Carrol County, Arkansas on Oct. 12th. On Nov. 21, 2023, her bond was reduced from $50,000 to $15,000 cash or surety.
