Willow Springs man arrested on allegations of breaking wife’s leg

West Plains, MO. – A Willow Springs man was arrested on Monday following allegations that he broke a woman’s leg. 

Billy Joe Compton, age 49, has been charged with 1st-degree domestic assault – serious physical injury and was arrested on December 4, 2023.

According to the probable cause statement, a Howell County Sheriff’s deputy performed a well-being check at a residence on Highway 60 for a report of domestic assault on Nov. 22, 2023. During the incident on Nov. 22nd, the woman stated that Billy became angry with her and punched her in the leg. She told authorities he was detoxing from opiates and would tell her he was going to kill her multiple times.

The deputy said in the report that a woman told him she believed her husband, Billy Compton, had broken her leg during the previous incident. The deputy took the woman to a local hospital and the leg was confirmed to be broken.

Following his arrest, Compton was released on a $50,000 bond and is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
