In 1999, R.D. and Doris moved back to their hometown of Seymour where they retired on the Brixey family farm.
He enjoyed working around the home doing yard work. R.D. loved nature and the outdoors. He and Doris took great pride feeding the hummingbirds, and loved to watch the deer and the turkeys that would come out of the woods on their farm.
R.D. and Doris attended Seymour First Christian Church and were very active in the church until their health failed.
Besides his parents, R.D. was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doris Dix, daughter, Carol Leann Dix, two brothers, Roy Dix and Bill Dix, and two sisters, June Smikle and Judy Lawson.
