Ava, MO. – Last week, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department made an announcement about the arrest of a man from Ava on burglary and possession charges.
This event began in November of 2023, with a call of a burglary on County Road 210 in Douglas County. A garage was broken into, and various items were missing. An investigation occurred and statements were taken. On January 18th, a game camera that was installed caught sight of a masked trespasser on the property. Matthew Colin Lane, 29 of Ava, was developed as the suspect.
Lane was later held up as the subject of a traffic stop on January 21st of this year, driving a vehicle with no rear license plate. Lane was taken into custody for his role in the burglary case, and controlled substances and a firearm were found with the vehicle, as well as power tools that were surmised to have been used in the burglary incident.
Lane is facing charges including two counts of felony 2nd Degree Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon due to Possession of a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance.
