Eunice Man Passes Away in Fatal Fire Friday Night

Eunice, MO. – A man from Eunice, MO. has been reported as deceased after the results of a deadly house fire on February 16th.

This information comes from the Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department, who responded to the call of a reported house explosion on February 16th at 9:25pm.

Upon responding to the residence on Pine Flat Lane near Eunice, they found a fully engulfed structure, with the possibility of one victim still inside the home. One grandmother and two adolescents had already evacuated; one of the juveniles was reported to be suffering from minor burns.

Defensive firefighting was implemented as ammunition went off inside the home, but after it was finished, more aggressive techniques were implemented. One victim was extricated from the home, and was pronounced deceased at 1:20am on February 17th. He was identified as James Goodchild.

The fire appeared to have started around a wood stove within the home.

Also on-scene were the Summersville Fire Department and medical personnel from Mercy in Summersville and Texas County Memorial Hospital. Present in assistance during the event were the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, the Texas County Coroner’s Office, and the Missouri Fire Marshal.
