Douglas County Man Arrested for Making Threats to Mansfield School District

Mansfield, MO. – An unidentified man from Douglas County was recently taken into custody for making threatening calls to both the Mansfield School District and the Mansfield City Hall.

According to Tim Stuart, Police Chief of Mansfield, calls were made to both the Mansfield School District and to City hall that were both explicit and threatening in nature, causing the school to go into soft lock-down. During investigation, it was found the original call to the school came from a blocked number, but the second call was not. This led to identification of the suspect involved, and the Douglas Sheriff’s Department and Ava Police Departments assisted in the arrest. Stuart added that the calls were originally made around 9:46am, and the suspect was apprehended within an hour. The identity of the man has not been released.

When asked about the event, Mansfield School District Superintendent Clint Hall released this official statement:

“On the morning of Thursday February 15th, we received two separate anonymous, obscene phone calls.  We never had an active ongoing threat but we did request assistance from Mansfield PD and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.  Out of an abundance of caution, we brought all students into the main building and went into an exterior lock-down.  The individual who made the calls was never on campus or even in our county.  Once the individual was identified by law enforcement, he was apprehended & we resumed normal school functions.  We would like to thank the Mansfield PD and Wright County Sheriff’s Department for their swift action as well as the cooperating law enforcement agencies in Douglas County.”

Respectfully,

Dr. Clint Hall
