The Liberty Eagles faced the Thayer Bobcats for the Class 3 District 10 Championship.These teams were the top seeds in this tournament. The winner will host the sectional game.
The entire first half was a back and forth, low scoring battle. The Eagles had trouble holding onto the ball, but the Bobcats could not use that to their advantage. Thayer led 11-9 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was a mirror of the first. Each team struggled and got into foul trouble. The defense for both teams shined, while the offenses were cold. The largest lead either team could gain was 3 points. Thayer led at the half, 18-15.
Thayer came out the locker room on a mission. Liberty was held scoreless for most of the third quarter. The Bobcats went on a 12-0 run and built a 13 point lead by the end of the quarter. Thayer outscored Liberty in the quarter 15-5. The Bobcats led 33-20, going into the fourth quarter.
The Eagles were able to get into a better offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter but, were unable to cut into the Bobcat lead. Thayer won 50-36. The Bobcats are the Class 3 District 10 Champions.
