West Plains, MO. – Missouri State University – West Plains will be hosting a grand opening celebration for the Ozarks Heritage Research Center.
The grand opening is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 6th, 2024 at the Garnett Library in West Plains. The Ozark Heritage Research Center will house an archive that can be used by researchers and history buffs. This will include documents and other resources that show the history and cultural heritage of the region. There will be guest speakers to speak about the opening of the OHRC and the significance of the history that can be found in the archives. This list of people includes MSU-WP Chancellor Dennis Lancaster, OHRC advisory board member and Professor of English Frank Priest, and resident Chuck Kimberlin. Also coming to speak is Farley Lewis, a muralist from Springfield. His mural of a wagon crossing the Ozarks will be found hanging in the OHRC.
Visitors during the grand opening will be able to view the entire collection of the center’s archives that evening. For more information on the Ozark Heritage Research Center, visit, wp.missouristate.edu.
