Goodhope, MO. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the body of an individual was found in a wooded area by a mushroom hunter, and investigations are underway.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, they were contacted on Tuesday, April 2nd at around 1pm. A person who was mushroom hunting had stated they found what they believed to be human remains. Responding to the call, the Sheriff and a deputy confirmed the existence of the body, that it was human in nature, and that it had appeared to be there for at least a couple of years.
Further statements from the Sheriff indicate that a the identity of the male decedent should be confirmed soon due to evidence found on the scene. They also say that this could be associated to a missing persons case from Christian County.
