West Plains, MO. – The inaugural Kansas City Barbecue Society Barbecue Festival took place this past weekend, and we want to thank everyone who turned out to this event. Everyone who entered donated towards the West Plains Elk’s Lodge #2418 Veteran’s Program, which helps to assist veterans within our area of the Ozarks.
Over 800 people attended the event, 17 Competition teams attended, 24 certified KCBS judges took part in testing participant entries, and even 5 local teams took part.
In the chicken category, the number one team was Parts R Smokin. In the Pork Ribs category, Heavy Smoke BBQ took first. For the overall Pork category, in first place was Casual Smokers. In the brisket category, taking first place was Kermit’s Ex. And best BBQ overall went to Heavy Smoke BBQ. However, local teams Big D BBQ and Roscoe T’s BBQ also placed top 10.

The winner of the Hot Wing eating contest was Jesse Frazier, and the winner of the Chicken Wing cooking contest went to BOHSC.
The Cornhole Tournament victory went to Juston Mickey and Hunter McCullough.
Lastly, the Burnt End Battle of the Bands saw the Jumping Jacks as the victor.
