Betty J. Sigman

Betty Joan Sigman was born on July 20, 1934 to Alvin and Sevilla (Bley) Preston with dark curly brown hair, blue eyes and pretty little dimples.  She took her last breath on Earth and her next in heaven on June 25, 2024 at her home in Cabool peacefully surrounded by love.  She was a long time member of the Cabool Christian Church.

Betty met the love of her life, James Edward Sigman, while in high school.  She was his “Queen of Love & Beauty”, which she was crowned in school.  She graduated with the Cabool Class of 1952 where she was active with FHA, student council and class offices.  Betty and Jim were united in marriage on February 8, 1952 before he left for the Korean War.  To this union they welcomed five children, Roy, Randy Joe, Jimmie, Janice and Bo.

Betty was loved by any and everyone who knew her.  She had a contagious laugh and smile that lit up a room and her quick wit kept everyone on their toes.  She put everyone before herself, her life was to care for others with Jim, the children and grandchildren the center of her world.  To her there were not in-laws or steps in her vocabulary; if you were in her family you were hers.  Betty loved to bake and cook, her kitchen was her happy place.  She was known for her cinnamon rolls!, if you missed out on those, that was you fault.

When Jim retired, they enjoyed traveling across the country collecting Fenton.  She enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales and her favorite color was pink.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; siblings, Sonny, Lois and Doris; sons, Jimmie and Randy Joe; a granddaughter, Jaimie and grandson, Josh.  She is survived by her children, Roy (Patsy), Ricky Dale “Bo” (Kelly) and Janice (Karen); daughters-in-law, Kris and Tia; granddaughter-in-law, Pati; grandchildren, Whitney (Austin), Chance (Kaylee), Kamron (Erik), Tember, Tye (Kassidy), Zebb (Lauren), Chad (Sunny) and Shyola! bonus grandchildren, Jonn (Mychelle), Jennifer (Chris), Jared and Andrew; several great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter due to arrive in September; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law (who were like sisters), Clara (JW), Virginia, Mabel and Anna Mae; brothers-in-law, Delmar (Teresa) and Elmer; special nieces, Brenda (David) and Carolyn (Wayne); special friends, Joy Sigman, Emmett Hood, Norma Jean West, Gloria Bennett, Janice Gockley, Danny and Jackie Smith and Dale and Cindy Flanagan.

Betty will be missed by many, but she is happily rejoicing in Heaven with her beloved Jim and welcomed God’s words, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.  The last month she has loved and been loved by her Hospice team, Teresa, Marykeeta, Tim, Phillip and Cheryl.  Because of their wonderful support we were able to grant her final wishes to remain at home.
