Ozark County, MO. – A man was arrested twice in one day after he left the jail and tried to run over another individual with his truck.
According to a recent Ozark County Sheriff’s Office post, on May 10, 2024, resident Brian Cuthbertson was released from jail at 9 a.m. after he was arrested and briefly held for a felony warrant stemming from a probation violation. After he was released he walked back to his house in Taney County. There he became intoxicated. At 7 p.m. he drove drunk to an acquaintance of his in Isabella. Once he arrived, he started accusing the male at the residence of stealing items and continued to put the male in a chokehold. The male was able to fight him off. Cuthbertson got back into his vehicle and accelerated into the victim’s truck causing what is estimated to be thousands of dollars in damage. He then backed up and continued to try and run over the victim with his vehicle twice before driving off.
Cuthbertson wrecked his vehicle on a low water bridge nearby becoming stuck and promptly left the scene on foot. Deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were all called for the crash. Once they arrived an investigation was started which led to his arrest at 9 p.m. on the same day, May 10, 2024. During an interview about what happened, Cuthbertson stated that he went to the house to help a female who was there leave and when he arrived the male pulled him into the house. He said he put the male into a chokehold in defense. He got into his truck and while leaving the male had a chainsaw chain and was swinging it at his truck. He then admitted to trying to run the male victim over. He stated as he left he thought that he had heard gunshots so he had ducked down in his truck and took his eyes off the road which is what caused him to crash his vehicle.
He is still being held in the Ozark County Jail on charges of assault-2nd degree, property damage-1st degree, armed criminal action, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and littering-1st offense.
The officer who wrote the post had a sense of humor adding this to the end of it, “This story might make you think that the beds in the county jail must be stellar if folks can’t go one-night sleep before returning to them, but trust us, that is not the case. We suspect it’s actually the pajamas we provide that must be so irresistible.”
