Flood Watch Issued, 3+ Inches of Rain Expected

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a flood watch for the entirety of the listening area, with a reported likelihood of 3+ inches of rain expected for a large portion, with some areas possibly receiving 4-6 inches.

The greatest amounts of rain will likely fall in a time period from sometime after midnight tonight, through to 6pm tomorrow.

In addition to the large amounts of rainfall, these is a chance of severe weather tonight going into tomorrow. The threats highlighted are the possibility of a brief tornado, and damaging winds in excess of 50mph.

The possibility of flooding across the listening area is high, so prepare and plan your travel routes ahead of time, and remember: turn around, don’t drown.
