Lonnie Oren Atchison, 68 years, 3 months, and 10 days old, passed away July 11, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
Lonnie was born April 1, 1956 in Mansfield, MO to Oren and Mildred (Barnes) Atchison.
He was the youngest and the only boy in the family. Lonnie grew up in the Ava community. He graduated from Ava High School in 1974.
On March 18, 2016, Lonnie and Pearl Potter were united in marriage at Girdner. Pearl and Lonnie were together for 39 years.
Lonnie was currently employed with Douglas County Road and Bridge. He had also worked for the City of Ava. In addition, he drove a school bus for Ava and Plainview and worked at the Ava and West Plains stock yards.
Lonnie was a Christian and grew up in the Baptist faith. He and Pearl attended Girdner Church.
He enjoyed horses, dogs, trading, hunting, and farming.
Lonnie’s pride and joy was his grandbabies.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Stotts, Nettie Atchison, and Emmalyn Stephens; and great grandson, Graham Atchison.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Pearl; his children; Justin and Kimber Atchison, Bridget and Bobby Cutbirth, Lindsey and Kris Bishop, and Kelsey and Jesse Willis; 15 grandchildren, T.C., Brandon, Shelby, Jason, Dillon, Dalton, Danielle, Jayce, Trystin, Teagan, Traeleigh, Tecumseh, Trapper, Timber, and Tatum; four great grandchildren, Hunter, Aubree, Lauren, and Raelynn; sisters, Vada Stotts and Katy Gifford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Lonnie will be Monday, July 15, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Girdner Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 14th from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Clinkingbeards. Officiating will be Pastor Ray Dobbs and Pastor Maxine Lund. Memorials may be made to Girdner Cemetery.
