Fire Lieutenant Wayne Cormier Promoted To Assitant Fire Chief In The West Plains Fire Department

West Plains, MO. – The West Plains Fire Department announced the promotion of Fire Lieutenant Wayne Cormier to the role of Assistant Fire Chief. 

Lieutenant Cormier joined the West Plains Fire Department in 1999 and worked as a paid-on-call employee. He started working on a full-time basis and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018. He also served as the department’s training officer and coordinator at the department’s Fire Academy since its inception in 2021.

Newly Announced Fire Chief Chris Sterner stated, ” Lieutenant Cormier has been an invaluable member of our team. His leadership skills, extensive experience, and dedication to our department and community make him the perfect fit for the role of Assistant Fire Chief. In this new role, Assistant Fire Chief Cormier will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing emergency response strategies, and continuing to advance the department’s mission of protecting the lives and property of West Plains community members.
