Montauk State Park In Texas County Evacuated Due To Severe Flooding

Texas County, MO. – Early yesterday morning, Monday, September 23, 2024, Texas County experienced severe flooding, which led to the evacuation of Montauk State Park. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Licking Fire Department, Texas County Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to assist after area roads were covered in water, causing issues for drivers. These issues included hydroplaning and vehicles stalling in the middle of flooded roads.

At Montauk State Park, campers were forced to evacuate as water levels rose rapidly. Park officials reported that the water reached 3.6 feet on the gauge at the dam around noon, rising by approximately two feet in less than 30 minutes due to heavy rainfall.
