Iris Hartje, 77-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Saturday, September 21, 2024. She was born February 28, 1947, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to the late Carl and Margaret (Jones) Slaver.
Iris spent her early years in Chippewa Falls, WI, before marrying Kenneth Hartje, with whom she moved to LaValle, WI. After several years, they moved and settled in Doniphan, MO where they enjoyed their life together and wanted to live out their remaining years. Iris and Ken celebrated 50 years of marriage, a milestone that was very special to them, in December of 2022 before Ken passed away on December 22nd.
An animal lover at heart, Iris loved her pet dogs. She liked gardening and enjoyed working puzzles. Iris was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are her stepchildren, David Hartje, Kathy Hartje (Roger Sarazin), Becky Wolfe (Eric), and Kristi Hartje; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Hartje Bubolz (Johnny), all from Wisconsin; and a brother, Allen Slaver of Iowa. Also surviving is a grandson, Lachlan Hartje along with several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Iris was preceded in death by a son, Dean Hartje, and a grandson, Grayson Hartje.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date in Wisconsin to honor Iris’s life and legacy.
