Kenneth Theodore Burress, 89 years, 6 months, and 13 days old, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
Ken was born March 21, 1935 in Springfield, IL to “Jackie” Marie (Burress) Sons. He was raised in Alton, IL. Ken moved to California in the early 60’s.
On July 16, 1966, Ken and Gwen Daniel were united in marriage at Las Vegas, NV and together were blessed with four sons. They lived in the Los Angeles/Simi Valley area and Ken worked as a Mechanic. They moved to Ava area in 1977 and he opened his own station called Ken’s Mobil. He became a truck driver in 1985 and drove for 22 years before retiring in 2007.
Ken spent his retirement years tending to his farm and garden. He got the most enjoyment out of spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie, and daughter-in-law, Trudy.
Ken is survived by his wife, Gwen; four sons and their spouses, David Burress, Kenny and Deannetta Burress, Chris and Angie Burress, and Jeff and Shaye Burress; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Memorial Visitation for Ken will be Friday, Oct. 11th, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. His graveside memorial will be Saturday, Oct. 12th, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola, MO with Pastor Robert Roberts officiating. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Oak Grove Cemetery.
