Alabama 34, Mizzou 0

No. 15 Alabama turned two pass interceptions into touchdowns Saturday and coasted to a 34-0 victory over No. 21 Missouri on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The shutout was the first time the Tigers (6-2, 2-2) had been held scoreless since 2019 at Georgia. With the win, Alabama shifts to 6-2 overall, including a 3-2 mark in SEC play.

Quarterback Brady Cook, who was listed as a game-time decision on the SEC injury report, started the contest, but left midway through the second quarter with an unrelated injury after completing 7-of-12 passes for 30 yards.

Fellow teammate Drew Pyne stepped in to finish the game with 4:38 remaining before halftime with the Tigers trailing 6-0 on two Graham Nicholson field goals. His first pass attempt, a deep shot intended for wide receiver Luther Burden III, was intercepted by safety Malachi Moore who returned it 31 yards to the MU 35. Then after a 28-yard Jalen Milroe-to-Emmanuel Henderson pass, Jamarion Miller ran up the middle for a three-yard touchdown. It was just the second touchdown allowed by the Missouri defense in 12-plus quarters of action.

On the final play of the half, the Tigers missed a 59-yard field goal attempt and Alabama led at the break, 13-0, a half during which Missouri’s defense held Alabama to 167 total yards and 0-5 on third down conversions.

Milroe led an 80-yard drive to start the second half and scrambled to a nine-yard touchdown run to increase the Tide lead to 20-0. After Qua Russaw intercepted a Pyne pass at the Alabama 35, the Tide moved 65 yards with Miller scoring his second touchdown on an 11-yard run to up the lead to 27-0. The home side added a fourth-quarter TD on a 35-yard run by Justice Haynes

Missouri put together an 88-yard drive late in the fourth quarter but was stopped short of the goal line at the Alabama two. Missing leading rusher Nate Noel, Marcus Carroll and Jamal Roberts shouldered the running load. Carroll carried 17 times for 80 yards and Roberts posted career highs with 17 carries and 71 yards.

Defensive end Johnny Walker Jr. had two first-half sacks of Milroe and finished with four tackles in the game. For the second-consecutive outing, sophomore Marvin Burks Jr., led the Tigers defensively with 10 tackles.
