Robert G. Edwards, 89 years, 4 months, and 4 days old, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
Robert was born June 24, 1935 in Otterville, Missouri to Fred and Ella (Smith) Edwards.
Robert graduated from Excelsior Springs High School. Soon after he served his country with the United States Army.
On June 7, 1963 Robert and Nora Mae Douglas were united in marriage in Mosby, Missouri and together were blessed with two children, Fred M. and Jacinda.
Robert and Nora moved to the Ava community in 1973 from Excelsior Springs. He worked at Sentinel Wood Treating, Horner Charcoal, and Lucky Lumber. He and Nora attended the Walnut Grove Church. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, and mowing yards with his John Deere Lawn Mower.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Fred M.; his brother, Fred Edwards; and his sisters, Dorothy Gaines, Margie Briscoe, and Ruth Evelyn Applegate.
He is survived by his wife, Nora; his daughter and husband, Jacinda and Toby Sheppard; grandchildren, Miranda Milligan and Shawn Swearengin, Shelden and Samantha Walker, and Kendra and Shannon Porter; great grandchildren, Braxton Swearengin, Capri Swearengin, Remi Porter, Casey Porter, Alexis Swearengin and Baylor Swearengin; his sister and husband, Ruby and Jerry Ford; several nieces; nephews; and friends.
Memorial services for Robert will be Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Walnut Grove Church in Ava, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Roberts and Pastor David Evans. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Inc., Ava, Missouri.
