Liberty’s Defense Shines in Round 1

The Liberty Eagles move on to round two of the District playoffs after a 12-8 win over Springfield Catholic.  Catholic scored a safety on the first drive of the game to take a 2-0 lead early but Liberty answered with a 38 yard Touchdown to get on the board and take the lead 6-2.  Two plays into the second quarter Liberty scored again making the score 12-2.  Catholic was able to score one touchdown and the score was 12-8 at the half and held up at the final buzzer.  Liberty’s defense forced the Fighting Irish to turn the ball over on downs five times and held tough each time Catholic threatened.  The defense has only allowed six points in their last four games and will need another strong performance next Friday as Houston will come to town for a rematch.  Liberty beat them one week ago 6-0.  Round two is Liberty vs. Houston Friday night at The Nest in Mountain View.
