COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri graduate student Brady Cook was named to the College Sports Communicators 2024 Academic All-America® Second Team.
Cook is the 22nd Tiger in program history to earn Academic All-America honors and is Mizzou’s second consecutive recipient of the award, after Darius Robinson was tabbed to the first team last season. He joins South Carolina’s Raheim Sanders and Kyle Kennard, Texas’ Jake Majors and Bert Auburn, and Vanderbilt’s Julian Ashby as the representatives from the SEC on the Academic All-America list.
Cook, a 6-2, 212-pound St. Louis native registered 201-of-321 (.626) passing attempts for 2,535 yards with 11 touchdowns and 87 rushes for 223 yards and five scores during his final season. He concluded his career with a 26-13 all-time record as the Tigers’ starting quarterback, which ranks second-most in program history. In addition, he finished No. 2 in program lore in career passing efficiency rating (143.53), No. 3 in passing yards (9,013) and 200-yard passing performances (26), No. 4 in total offense (10,222) and No. 5 in passing touchdowns. He also became the first quarterback in program history to amass 9,000-plus passing yards and 1,000-plus rushing yards (1,209) in a career and joined Chase Daniel (2005-08), Brad Smith (2002-05) and Drew Lock (2015-18) as the only players in MU history with 10,000-plus yards of total offense.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Missouri as a magna cum laude graduate in December 2022 and added a Master’s of Business Administration degree in May 2024. He was named a two-time SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
The Academic All-America team is selected by a vote of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) membership. Student-athletes are selected from the Academic All-District team by a committee before a national vote to determine the Academic All-America teams across all divisions.
