Officials Addressing Multiple Problems with Texas County Water Lines

Texas County, MO. – Officials with the Public Water Supply District in Texas County have been battling a lot of complications with their system lately, leaving many residents without usable water for a few days now. Workers are doing their best to address these issues and get everything running once more for local residents.

Below is a statement from Natalin Fletcher from the Texas County Public Water Supply District #1, talking about the series of events that led to the current problems, and how they’re being addressed.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025 the district noticed a rise in the water being pumped.  At this point the technicians began looking for a leak. The Success area was put under a Boil Water Advisory on Saturday, January 25, 2025 after a leak that could not be found had finally lowered the pressure enough in the area.  We also asked for public help in looking for the leak. On Monday, January 27, 2025, a leak was located and fixed but it was unknown if that was the culprit.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 3 more leaks had been turned in and fixed.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025 the district began getting calls about no water in the Roby and Evening Shade area. The technicians learned very quickly that it was an issue with one of the wells in Roby. The reason for this was due to the pump in Well #4 going out.  Because of that we had to disconnect the Success area from the Roby wells. Flynn

Drilling has checked Well #4 in Roby and will be back in the morning to begin pulling the pump. We have issued a Boil Water Advisory for the entire District, with the exception of the Bucyrus area, due to a lowering of the water pressure this morning. We have stayed in contact with the Department of Natural Resources and they are aware of the problems that we are facing.

We have been working through our local agencies and was able to get the Convoy of Hope to bring us bottled water for distribution throughout the community.  The bottled water was separated and half stayed at the Water District in Roby and the other half went to the Success Fire Station.

The office clerks stayed until 7:30pm alongside with members of the Roby/Success Fire Department handing out cases of water to the public.  As of Thursday, January 30, 2025, Flynn Drilling is here and once they get the pump pulled then they can begin fixing the problem.

Once Well #4 is back up, then we can put the Success area back on the Roby Wells until the new well in Success is completed.  The new well is installed but the well house is not up yet.

The PWSD#1 of Texas County has decided to have a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 @ 6pm at the Citizens Center in Roby.  This meeting will be open for customers to speak with the Water District Board of Directors.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused all of our customers and we hope that the issues can be resolved soon.

Thank you, Natalin Fletcher – Clerk at the PWSD#1 of Texas County
