Eagles secure a 64-53 win over the Ava Bears

The Liberty Eagle Basketball team faced the Ava Bears this past Friday night, February, 7th 2025. Despite an intense run by the Bears in the 4th Quarter, Eagles won the Game by a Final of 63-54.

Summary:

1st Quarter: Ava controls the tip, but stolen away and put in twice by Parker Tune for the Liberty Eagles. Another bucket for the Eagles by Brayden Mays and some easy fouls in the first five minutes. The Eagles take the early lead, 16-2. Ava’s easy strides as they increase to five are by Issac Dalton. Several steals and Dalton also with the chance to capitalize at the Free throw line. Quarter ends with Liberty leading 20-7 

2nd Quarter: A foul call on the Ava Bears and Gavin Reese makes 1-2 free throws at the line, picked up by the Ava Bears. Stolen back and three more by Reese to bring it to, 26-8. Ava capitalizes a bit as a three and several free throws are shot first by Talon Harvill as well as Brock Swatosh. Gavin Reese for the Eagles also captializes, scoring three more buckets as Eagles continue to lead 34-19 at the half. 

3rd Quarter: First bucket of the second half by Grant Swatosh for the Ava Bears as Eagles turn it over. There are at least two easy rebounds the Bears are able to make right out of the gate, they are also continuing to get the ball as close to the basket as possible. The trail moves up to ten as Bridger Weidemier shoots his second three of the game for the bears. Narrows to eight as the ball is stolen by Draydon Wells who puts it in for two. Brayden Mays gets two more rebounds to follows and scores two more with the score now, 39-28. Liberty has went in a 13-0 run as the game now has 53.6 seconds left. Score at the end of three, Liberty with the lead 47-28.

4th Quarter: Draydon Wells with yet another rebound and bucket as it is now a 49-28 lead by the Eagles. Two free throws and an easy scoop shoot by Brock Swatosh for the Bears, but taken back for another bucket by Wells for the Eagles. Bears cut the game back down to nine points with another jumper and two free throws by Issac Dalton.  This only escalates as Dalton pulls out a three and another two pointer by Brock Swatosh, finally back to Gavin Reese for a reverse layup for the Eagles. Gavin is able to put Eagles back up once again by ten and get at least two more offensive rebounds. This and two more buckets by Alex Tune with 9 seconds to go, Eagles will take the victory and win it by a Final Score of 63-54.

Liberty will play Tomorrow (Saturday, February 8th) in the Final game of the Legends Shootout  8 PM vs. Marshfield and travel to Cabool on Tuesday, February 11th (*Weather permitting) You can hear all of these games on The Fox 96.9.
