Mountain Grove, MO – The City of Mountain Grove Animal Control reminds residents that pet registration is due by March 31, 2025.
All cats and dogs within city limits must be licensed and registered. This common practice among U.S. cities ensures that pets are properly vaccinated against rabies and can be easily identified if lost. However, there are some changes this year.
Key Updates:
-
Free Permanent Licenses:
- The city now offers free permanent pet licenses for dogs and cats that are microchipped. In this case, you only need to provide an updated copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination when the previous one expires.
- For pets that are not microchipped, an annual license is required, which must be renewed on or before March 31, 2025.
-
New Licensing Location & Fee Structure:
- Licenses will no longer be issued at Mountain Grove City Hall. Instead, bring your pet’s rabies certificate to the Mountain Grove Police Department.
- The fees for the licenses are as follows:
- Annual License (spayed/neutered): $5.00
- Annual License (not spayed/neutered): $10.00
- Permanent License with microchip: Free
-
Outdoor Cats:
- All outdoor cats must be licensed, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Please ensure that your veterinarian indicates on your cat’s rabies certificate whether it has been spayed or neutered.
