Van Buren, MO. – Ozark National Scenic Riverways announces they’ll be performing prescribed burned over 3,000 acres in coming days.
During the month of March, this will include 1,161 acres near Powder Mill, 1,836 acres near Jerktail Mountain, and 46 acres around Big Springs Cabin.
These prescribed burns take place every year around this time as a way to remove excess brush and downed timber from the local environment, lessening the potential escalation of possible wildfires this year.
As a result, foot and vehicular traffic in these areas may be limited due to safety concerns while these burns are taking place.
The Vance Barnett Prescribed Burn is scheduled for March 3rd at 10am.
