Authorities in Birch Tree, Missouri, have arrested a local man after a pair of dangerous road rage incidents occurred on consecutive days along US Highway 60. The suspect, identified as Seth Thompson, is now facing charges.
On the afternoon of March 4, Captain Brumble with the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of US Highway 60 and Highway 99 after receiving reports of an aggressive driver. According to the initial call, a gray Kia had reportedly tried to run a female driver off the road before pulling into Lucky’s convenience store. By the time law enforcement arrived, the vehicle was gone.
The very next day, on March 5, Captain Brumble was dispatched to the same location for another road rage call involving the same gray Kia. The reporting party, who was traveling west on Highway 60 with her minor child in the vehicle, stated that the driver of the Kia — a white male — repeatedly sped up, slowed down, and even attempted to sideswipe her, ultimately forcing her off the road.
The caller then followed the suspect vehicle at a safe distance, watching as it pulled into Main Street Grocery in Birch Tree. There, the male driver, later identified as Seth Thompson, exited the Kia and began shouting at the woman, threatening to “beat their butt.” Witnesses said Thompson then entered the store and purchased several small bottles of alcohol.
Dispatch continued to provide updates on Thompson’s movements as the caller followed at a distance. The suspect ultimately drove east on Old Highway 60, then east on Highway 60, before turning south onto County Road 625. He eventually pulled into a residence at 7765 County Road 625.
Captain Brumble arrived at the residence shortly after, where he made contact with Thompson, placed him under arrest, and transported him to the Shannon County Jail. Thompson was booked and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
In an official statement, Captain Brumble expressed serious concerns regarding Thompson’s behavior, stating that the suspect appeared to have little recollection of the incidents and posed a significant danger to himself and others. Authorities believe Thompson’s reckless actions could easily lead to serious injury or death if they continue.
