The Royals cruised to a Cactus League victory. Kansas City defeated the Chicago Cubs 9-3 at Sloan Park in Mesa. Jac Caglianone hit his second home run of the spring on a two-run shot in the seventh inning. Jordan Groshans went 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Cole Ragans earned the win after striking out six batters through three innings. The Royals are now 8-4-and-1. They host the Los Angeles Angels this afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered eight runs in the sixth inning of a 12-1 Spring Training loss to the Washington Nationals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Erick Fedde tossed three scoreless innings to begin the game before Tekoah Roby gave up three runs out of the pen to get charged with the loss. St. Louis is 5-and-8 in exhibition play. Miles Mikolas starts for the Cardinals against Houston tonight.
The Cardinals are planning on shutting Jordan Walker down from all baseball-related duties for a week before allowing him to work his way back after twisting his knee. With 2 1/2 weeks of Spring Training games remaining, the club thinks it will be able to allow Walker’s knee time to heal and still get him into several Grapefruit League games before Opening Day against the Twins on March 27 at Busch Stadium.
