Jerry Lynn McClanahan, born June 22nd, 1956, to Noel and Nellie McClanahan of Alton, Missouri, was the familiar soul that everyone knew. Jerry took his final journey home on March 11th, 2025, at the age of 68.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bill Spring, and nieces Lesa Samuels and Ladonna Bell.
Jerry is survived by: his only son Josh McClanahan (Nicky) of Brownsville, Tennessee, three amazing grandchildren Isaac, Carson, and August who are the center of his world, three sisters Evelyn Spring, Rockford, Illinois, Sue Deckard, Alton Missouri, Rhonda McClanahan (Kevin Hicks) West Plains, Missouri, four brothers Larry McClanahan, Gary McClanahan (Freda), Bobby McClanahan (Kathy), and Danny McClanahan (Darlene Peters) all of Alton, Missouri.
Jerry dedicated his life to his family, above all, nurturing his animals of all shapes and sizes (including an opossum or two), and the never-ending journey to cultivate the perfect garden. Being able to call yourself a member of his family felt like winning the lottery every time. Now he’s left an empty place around the card table that no one can ever fill.
Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, with burial in the Bailey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.
