The father, James Dunbar Jr., 22, alleged that he had left the room to retrieve a pillow, and returned to find his 1 and 2-year-old kids kicking the infant. However, medical professionals who examined the infant stated that the injuries were severe, aligned with being squeezed very hard, with brain injuries being symptomatic to shaken baby syndrome. The severity of the injuries were stated to have been nearly impossible for children that size to have caused.

The infant later passed away in the hospital due to the severity of the injuries. Dunbar is now facing a capital murder charge, and three felony counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. His first court date is set for May 18th.
