Green Space in Downtown West Plains Brought to Life in Community Collaboration

West Plains, MO. – Earlier this week, students in the West Plains School District were given a chance to engage with enhancing the city at large as part of a collaborative effort to help beautify the downtown area of West Plains.

This took place on Tuesday, May 13th, and involved students from South Fork Elementary working with staff from the City of West Plains, the West Plains Fire Department, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and West Plains Downtown. The project included planting flowers to create a pollinator garden in a green space next to the parking lot at Trish Knight and Jefferson Streets.

The West Plains Downtown organization expressed their thanks to all involved for making this project possible, and stated that this project was “more than flowers – it’s about creating habitat for pollinators, beautifying downtown, and teaching the next generation the importance of caring for our environment.”
