Pocahontas Man Arrested After Roadside Assault Near Thayer

A Pocahontas man is facing multiple charges after an alleged roadside assault on Highway 142 on May 13, according to a probable cause statement filed Thursday.

Deputy Shannon Gregory wrote that the victim reported being assaulted by Colton Tyler Robinson while driving to the Thayer Police Department. Robinson was later located at Walmart and detained by Thayer officers.

According to the statement, Robinson admitted to “passing illegally on a double yellow line and stopping in the middle of the road to force the vehicle…to stop” . He also acknowledged fighting with the victim and “grabbed…by the head and shoved his face into the dirt” .

Witnesses, including a woman driving with two juveniles, told deputies that Robinson used his grandmother’s van to block the roadway before the altercation. She stated Robinson approached her vehicle after the fight and attempted to get inside before fleeing in the bed of a passing truck.

The report notes photographs of injuries and a video of Robinson leaving the scene were submitted as evidence.

Robinson is charged with second‑degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and traffic‑related offenses. Deputies requested a warrant, stating they did not believe he would appear on a summons.His bond is set at $25,000.00.
