Two Arrested in Shannon County After Shotgun Victim Investigation

Winona, MO. – A pair of people from Winona have been arrested after an investigation into a shotgun victim brought to light the shooter, as well as drugs present.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the investigation began on April 23 after a shotgun victim was treated for injuries to the groin and wrist. Neither the victim nor witnesses told officers the correct series of events, leading to multiple days of investigation involving different people and locations.

Eventually, through statements from another witness, Zach Needels, born 1994 from Winona, was identified as the primary suspect. Investigators found that Needels had shot the victim as a result of a disagreement between the two. A search of Needels’ residence led to the discovery of another resident, Savannah Deckard, born in 2002, along with her infant child. Methamphetamine was also discovered in the home.

Both individuals now face felony charges of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance, while Needels also faces a felony charge of first-degree assault.
