Funeral Services for Herbert William Pitchford, Age 91 of Glencoe, Arkansas will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at The Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas, beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.

Herbert William Pitchford, 91, of Glencoe, Arkansas, passed from this life on May 16, 2026, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born December 23, 1934, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Herman William and Martha Modena (Bogart) Pitchford.

Herbert married Aletta Abney on March 12, 1999, in Salem, Arkansas. Throughout his life, he was known as a hardworking man who believed in earning an honest living. He spent his working years as the owner and operator of Tire Barn and Pitchford Service Gas Station, Tri County Disposal Sanitation Service, and Pitchford Sanitation Service. Being self-employed was something he took great pride in.

He loved sports and ball games, was a devoted Arkansas Razorbacks and Chicago Cubs fan, and especially enjoyed spending time taking care of his yard. Herbert loved his family deeply and was known for his strong work ethic and independent spirit. He was also a faithful member of Salem Church of God in Salem, Arkansas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Aletta Pitchford of Glencoe, Arkansas; two sons, James Pitchford (Lesli) of Dixon, Illinois, and Kevin Pitchford of Dixon, Illinois; one stepson, Joe Taylor of Munford, Tennessee; daughter, Jeanne Thomas of Dixon, Illinois, and five step daughters, Sheila Tanner (Kevin) of Eads, Tennessee, Shannan Taylor of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kathy Wycoff (Terry) of Monette, Arkansas, Connie Rolland (Ricky) of Monette, Arkansas, and Ann Qualls (Brian) of Glencoe, Arkansas; many grandchildren and step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, May Eller of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Pitchford; one grandson; one step-grandson; one step-granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one great-great-grandson; five sisters; and three brothers.
