The Royals dropped their series opener against the Red Sox. Kansas City lost to Boston 3-1 to begin a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Jac Caglianone drove in the team’s lone run on an RBI double in the seventh inning. Starting pitcher Seth Lugo was charged with his fourth loss after allowing two runs through six innings. The Royals are now 20-28. They host the Red Sox again tonight.
