SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER

     The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man May 19th, for Failure to Register as a sex offender.  

     On May 8th, the Sheriff’s Office received a citizen tip indicating that 51 year old ANTHONY GIBSON was an unregistered sex offender living in Baxter County.  Deputy Tanner Anderson confirmed that GIBSON had been convicted of Child Molestation in Grant County, Indiana.  Deputy Anderson contacted the Grant County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office to obtain additional details.  He learned that ANTHONY GIBSON is registered in that jurisdiction as a Sexually Violent Predator.  GIBSON is required to notify authorities if he is away from his principal residence for more than 72 hours.  Through the Baxter County Tax Assessor’s Office, Deputy Anderson found that GIBSON owns both real and personal property located at 18 Sunrise Heights Circle in the rural Mountain Home area.

     Deputy Anderson interviewed other people residing in that area.  They confirmed that GIBSON has been staying at his property there more and more frequently and for longer durations recently.  GIBSON had not registered with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office as he is required by law to do.  Deputy Anderson applied for a warrant of arrest from the Baxter Circuit Court, and ANTHONY GIBSON was arrested this morning at his residence.  He was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and was booked on a charge of:

    GIBSON is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond.  He will appear before the Circuit Court to answer later this month.
