The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Pomona man following an investigation into an alleged sex offense involving a child.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Lt. Torey Thompson, deputies were dispatched to Pomona on May 21 for a reported sexual offense. A preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect, Seth A. Smith, was approximately 25 years old at the time of the alleged conduct, while the victim was 10 or 11 years old, an age at which Missouri law states a child cannot consent.
Investigators wrote that the allegations support charges of first‑degree sodomy under RSMo 566.060 and second‑degree child molestation under RSMo 566.068, both felony offenses. The statement notes that the reported conduct occurred within Howell County.
Smith is held on a $75,000 bond.
