A Myrtle man is facing felony charges after deputies say he led them on a high‑speed motorcycle pursuit Sunday evening in West Plains. According to a probable cause statement from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy First Class Robert Malone attempted to stop a black Yamaha motorcycle around 6:59 p.m. on May 24 after noticing it displayed a plate reading “RUN THIS,” which he recognized as invalid.
Deputies say the driver, identified as Dustin Shane Knapp, accelerated and fled, reaching speeds over 120 miles per hour on U.S. Highway 63 while weaving through traffic and using the center turn lane to pass vehicles. The report states Knapp eventually crashed near the end of Division Drive, attempted to run, and was taken into custody after two Taser deployments.
A records check showed Knapp’s driving privileges were revoked, and deputies reported finding a broken glass pipe with white residue in his pocket during a search.
Knapp is charged with resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while revoked/suspended. His bond is set at $25,000.
