Brewers 6, Cardinals 0

The Cardinals were shut out by the Brewers Tuesday night 6-0 as Milwaukee widened its NL Central lead to three-and-a-half games over St. Louis. Garrett Mitchell’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run fifth inning that chased starter Michael McGreevy, who allowed five runs in four-plus innings. The Cardinals managed just four hits and never advanced a runner past second base.

Brewers reliever Abner Uribe drew attention after striking out Alec Burleson to end the eighth inning of Milwaukee’s 6-0 win over the Cardinals Tuesday night. Uribe made several WWE-style gestures toward the Cardinals dugout after the strikeout. The pitch was challenged by St. Louis and upheld after review. After the game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy called Uribe’s actions unacceptable, while Uribe later apologized and claimed he believed Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol had been making gestures about hitting Milwaukee batters.
